Chapter 371: Accidental meetings

Renting a garden to entertain guests and invite them to play, while also having servants to help prepare everything, wasn’t this more convenient?

Of course, it was also expensive.

However, the last thing these people were lacking, was money! The thing they were most greedy for was novelty.
As long as they could enjoy themselves and have face, they didn’t care about spending money at all.

After walking a short period, they came to the Maze Array.
The square maze was built out of blue bricks and covered almost ten acres.
Inside, the lanes crossed like a spider’s web and many of them ended in dead ends.

“Fascinating!” Fang Qing praised, her eyes lighting up.
She clapped her hands, “Let’s go in and see who comes out first!”

Lian Fang Zhou was also thinking about this.
“Okay! Let’s try!”

Su Jing He touched his nose.
Smiling, he said: “It’s better to be a little bright.”

His wife pouted, “What’s wrong with this? It’s just for fun! If you want to talk about who is bright, let’s wager that whoever loses has to cook a table of dishes tonight!”

Laughing, Su Jing He called back: “I don’t have any complaints about this, isn’t it just the food I made myself? I dare to eat it, do you?”

Everyone laughed.

Looking at the corridor walls, which were taller than a person’s head, Lian Fang Zhou smiled: “What if someone goes in and can’t find their way out?”

Cui Shao Xi jumped to answer, finally seizing an opportunity to talk to her.
Smiling widely, he said: “We’ve trained four dogs for this purpose, they will smoothly lead them out.”

“This is a clever solution.” Su Jing He praised.
Lian Fang Zhou nodded.

Now that the challenge had been proposed, everyone was eager to try and walked in, one after another.
Talking and laughing, they left the servants outside to wait.

This type of maze was the most fun to walk alone.
After they entered, the five people split ways and each choose a path to follow.

The corridors were not spacious and could only accommodate two people walking side by side.
Another person, and it would feel crowded.

Under their feet was a flat path made of green bricks leading off into the distance.
It seemed that it would never end.

Lian Fang Zhou came to a crossroad and looked down the paths that extended in all four directions.
Making a decision, she picked up her pace and hurried to find the correct path.

However, as soon as she turned a corner, she looked up to see that the road was blocked.
Shaking her head, she laughed and turned around.
It really wasn’t easy to find your way out!

Thinking about which path to choose next, she turned the corner and suddenly discovered that her path was blocked by a man in a snow-green, round-necked robe.
Cui Shao Xi looked equally startled, coming to a graceful stop, his browns frowning slightly.

It seemed that the moment had come.

“Young Master Cui, what a coincidence!” Lian Fang Zhou called, greeting him with a smile.
Her eyes were clear and her expression was neutral.
Even her greeting was unchanged from before.

It was as if nothing had happened between them.

Cui Shao Xi was lost for a moment, staring at her blankly in a daze.

When he had imagined this moment, he had never thought that she could be so calm and polite in front of him after so many things had happened!

Could it be that she really had no place for him in her heart?

The look on Cui Shao Xi’s handsome face finally changed and the muscles on his cheek twitched fiercely.

“It’s not a coincidence,” he said finally.
His expression was still gently, but now all the affection that he had not dared show before was brought out.
Word by word, he said: “I came to find you specifically.”

Lian Fang Zhou’s breath stagnated, unable to answer these straightforward words.

Sure enough, the person one should be the most afraid of meeting is a person who is reckless and blunt! Especially in delicate situations.

However, his words had still not reached the point of backing them into a corner so Lian Fang Zhou simply pretended to be confused.
She raised her eyebrows and smiled in surprise: “Find me? Young Master Cui must really be joking! Young Master Cui lives in Xiuyuan and after so long must be more familiar with this place than I am.
I’m afraid you must have already walked this maze many times.
You shouldn’t follow me, I don’t know the way!”

“Fang Zhou.” Cui Shao Xi said, ignoring Lian Fang Zhou’s stubbornness, “You know why I moved to Xiuyuan.” His eyes were fixed on hers as he walked forward, step by step, staring at her without blinking.
Softly, he said: “Fang Zhou, you should know my heart! I—”

“Young Master Cui!” Lian Fang Zhou didn’t back down.
Her tone was cool and there was no trace of emotion in her eyes.
She met his gaze without evasion.

Such a gaze was enough to make Cui Shao Xi’s affection rapidly cool down several degrees.

“The matter between you and Miss Su has nothing to do with me and I don’t know your heart.” Lian Fang Zhou said slowly.
“I am very grateful for your help, and I thought we could be friends.
But if this is not the case, then I can only say sorry!”

She paused, then added: “You helped me a lot and I won’t forget it.
If you need my help in the future, just say it!”

“Fang Zhou…” Although Cui Shao Xi had expected that she would reject him, the pain in his heart was still beyond words!

Smiling bitterly, he said: “Why do you have to say this? In this world, no one will treat you better than me.
Why don’t you give me a chance? I don’t believe it’s because of the Cui family, you are not so timid! People who are afraid of such things…”

Hearing his words, Lian Fang Zhou’s mind immediately went to Ah Jian.

Was there really no one in the world who would treat her better than him?

She didn’t have time to think about this too deeply and said flatly to Cui Shao Xi: “Since you know that it’s not because of the Cui family, you should understand that I have never thought this way about you! Moreover, son of the Cui family, I am already engaged! Talking about marriage with you, don’t talk about it anymore! I don’t want to listen!”

Cui Shao Xi’s face had gone white again and the hands on either side were clenched into fists.
They were so tight; his knuckles were white and the backs of his hands had burst with blue veins.

When she wanted to stab a heart, she did it very efficiently.

“Fang Zhou, I have never liked someone as seriously as this so I won’t give up.” After a long moment, Cui Shao Xi finally spoke.
His voice was calm but Lian Fang Zhou’s heart was very disturbed.

“Remember this, I won’t give up.” He said again, slowly.

Lian Fang Zhou’s eyes sank and Cui Shao Xi chuckled.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to hurt you.
I would never try to entangle you and force you into distress.
One day, you will understand that I am treating you sincerely and will protect you forever!”

Lian Fang Zhou stared at him, dazed.
Cui Shao Xi’s words were really puzzling!

She didn’t know what to say.
Before she could speak, a cold and indifferent voice cut between them: “She doesn’t need you to protect her, your sincere intentions are useless for her.”

Lian Fang Zhou’s heart jumped.
She looked up: “Ah Jian!”

TN: Oh my god, CSX! You were so close to some character growth!
